Aveda Makeup: Bronzed Beauty with a Twist

Bronzed Beauty with A Twist

Another look using my Aveda 2014 Spring/Summer Makeup Collection.
This look uses the same colors you saw in my previous post : Bronzed Beauty .  Check it out if you haven't already.

I applied the Peony Blush and the Burnished Bronze the same as in my other look.

Then with the Olive Leaf, instead of applying it just in the crease, I extended it out to make a V in the outer corner of my eye.

After blending that in, I applied my eyeliner as usual, but extended it out to create a winged look.

What I am Wearing:
Eye Shadow - Aveda Petal Essence Single Eye Color
                       CultureClash Collection
                                 Burnished Bronze

2014 Spring Aveda Makeup: Bronzed Beauty

Hey guys!!

I have been experimenting with the Aveda 2014 spring/summer collection a lot lately. I LOVE IT!

I am especially loving the Burnished Bronze, Olive Leaf and Peony Blush Shadows together! It has become one of my everyday looks.

The great thing about these shadows together is that it compliments all skin tones and eye colors.

To achieve this look you will first apply your eye primer.

I like to use the Aveda Concealer as my eyeshadow primer.

Apply Peony Blush to your brow bone

Next, apply Burnished Bronze on entire eye lid, in the crease and then blended up into the Peony Blush.

Also apply this color to your lower lash line.

Then, in the crease, apply Olive Leaf and Blend

Blend Blend Blend.  Blending is very important.  You do not want lines.

I like to line my upper and lower lash lines with brown liner and black waterproof mascara to my lashes when doing this look.

TIP: For aged skin, be careful of dark shadows or liners under the eye.

What I am Wearing:
Eye Shadow - Aveda Petal Essence Single Eye Color
                       CultureClash Collection
                                 Burnished Bronze
                                 Peony Blush
                                 Olive Leaf
Highlight - Mac Prep and Prime Highlighter in Light Boost
Concealer - Aveda Inner Light Concealer 02 Balsa
Foundation - Aveda Inner Light Mineral Dual Foundation in 04 Honey
Contour - Hoolah by Benefit
Blush - Aveda Petal Essence Face Accent Peach Lights
Lips - Nourish-mint Rehydrating Lip Glaze in color Rose Copper
Eyeliner - Aveda Petal Essence Eye Definer in the color Cacao
Mascara - Aveda Mosscara in the color Black Forest

Hair Makeover: Goodbye Ombré

PURPLE HAIR CAN BE BEAUTIFUL

I had a young girl come in the other day that wanted hair color similar to this . . .
She has naturally dark brown hair and on her ends was previous bleaching and coloring from about a year ago.  From questions I asked her, this is what info I gathered:
  1. BOX COLOR ON HAIR BEFORE
  2. FRIZZY CURLY DRY AND ENDS DAMAGED
  3. YOUNG STUDENT
  4. GETS HAIR DONE ONCE OR TWICE A YEAR

To this I responded, "In my Professional Opinion, I would recommend that we look at other options because this color:
  1. REQUIRES BLEACHING
  2. COLOR FADES QUICKLY
  3. POSSIBILITY OF INCONSISTENCY
  4. DRY HAIR
  5. DAMAGED HAIR
  6. HIGH MAINTENANCE

She took my advice and we looked at her options.  We found a color that was a Dark Violet/Red that didn't require us to bleach her hair. The pros to this color are:
  1. SHINE
  2. CONSISTENCY ROOTS TO ENDS
  3. RICH COLOR
  4. 4-6 WEEKS MAINTENANCE
  5. CLOSE TO NATURAL GROW OUT

Always know that color requires maintenance.  You deserve to look your best every day!  As a stylist, I do not want my guests to have a bad hair day!  It is important that you know the maintenance of the color or cut you choose and always book your appointment ahead of time.

So here she is . . .

Hair Makeover: Red Box Color to Blonde

EVER THOUGHT ABOUT GOING DARK TO LIGHT . . . LIGHT TO DARK, USING BOX COLOR?

Well every stylist just went . . .

Now this is my pep talk for all of you women out there that want to go from blonde to red to black and back to blonde...

Get a professional opinion and have them do the work for you! Im telling you...
YOU DESERVE TO HAVE BEAUTIFUL HAIR!

So, I had a new client come in who has naturally dark blonde hair that was blonde last year, box colored red and then professionally colored red 3 times.

She said that she wanted to be blonde . . .
And of course, my response is . . .

"Of course, Have a seat!
I am making the world blonde one head at a time."
 -Courtney Connell

Now this isn't the first time I have put myself in this situation, and boy do they make for a long day!

A long day it was...full of excitement and changes!!

So I take my approach which involved foiling pretty much every piece of her hair to give her a natural look. Let me tell you...the amount of hair that you see sectioned in the front is about 2x the amount on my entire head!!  LOTS OF HAIR HERE!

But my hard work and her patience paid off because in ONE DAY I took her hair from . . .

BEFORE                                                 AFTER

If you need a hairstylist, a change or even got your hair in a mess somehow, I am more than willing to consult with you to help give you what is best for your hair.

Natural Face Mask All Skin Types

FIRST THINGS FIRST...

Buy this product!!! Here is the link...no excuses!

Ok, now I can begin!!

Hope you are doing well and staying healthy! That is where it all begins. Your health with show through in your skin and body.

So I don't have much more to say about this product other than the fact that I love it!!

It is called the mask of magnaminty!

And minty it is!!

This mask is for all skin types (use caution if u have a sensitivity to peppermint).  It is made to use once a week as a deep cleansing mask. It will clean out your pores and help exfoliate, calm and soothe your skin.

As you can see in the picture below, it looks like ice cream! I mean seriously, I'd eat it if I could!! YUMMERS!!

All you have to do is wash your face and apply all over except for the eyes and mouth.

You will feel a very cool minty and tingling sensation! If you don't like the cooling effect, this mask is not for you!

As the mask dries, you will feel it as your skin tightens.

After 10 mins, gently scrub off with warm water.

The great thing about LUSH products is the fresh ingredients!  The one that I purchased will actually expire 4 months from the time I bought it. There will be a label on ur product that tells you the expiration date.

Make sure that if you look into other ones, you pay attention to whether or not it needs to be refrigerated. This mask DOES NOT.

So I thought i would let you all see the beauty of my face with the mask on lol...a little funny looking, but totally worth the amazing results!!

FOR YOUR ENTERTAINMENT:

Well I hope you all are able to try it out!!

Leave me a comment below and let me know what you think of it or if you have a favorite mask!

2014 Spring/Summer Aveda Makeup Collection

Hello Makeup Lovers!

Have you seen the new spring/summer collection of  Aveda makeup!

Culture Clash Collection 2014

I just HAD to give in and buy it all! And I am loving it!

Using Aveda eye shadows has been a bit of a change for me...they are not as pigmented as shadows I am used to using. There is a little secret though. They have a product called the color options eye shadow transformer.

This product will absolutely increase the depth of your eye shadow colors. I will go more into detail about this is my Transformer post.

I have also started using the Aveda Dual Foundation again. Several years ago I used this product, and now that I am using it again, I am wondering why I stopped. Check back soon to learn more about the Aveda dual foundation.

Here is a look I created with the spring/summer 2014 collection.

I will post in depth on how to get this look and many more.

Currently, at Jcon we are doing a gift with purchase while supplies last!  So come on in and we can set you up with your perfect spring/summer look!

If there is a look you want to see for a special occasion or for your eye color or skin tone, please comment below and let me know!!

Baked Chicken & Asparagus

Hey Guys!

Hope you all are enjoying your monday.

Mine started out a little rocky... Last night I decided I would try to be strong and take down Jacob.  Well, that thought and one kick to his shin turned into a painful, swollen, "oh my gosh im dying and i broke my foot" night and morning.

HELP IVE FALLEN AND CANT GET UP!

I won't bore you with details, but I'm alive and well and hopefully tomorrow it will be good as new!

So, what am I to do with a day off alone and a limp...

"I SHALL COOK!", she says.

I could only work with what I had in the fridge, so I did a little bit of pinteresting and googling.  I came across this website --> Healthy Living

I found the perfect, simple recipe that is actually pretty healthy.
I will post for you the ingredients and steps below :

Ingredients:

One Box Wild Rice
4 Chicken Breasts
1 stalk asparagus (about 25 pieces)
1 can Cream of Chicken Soup
1/2 cup Water
Chicken seasoning
Mozzerella Cheese
Salt and pepper (to taste)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

Cook rice - I use this kind of rice

It does take about 25 min to cook, but that will give you enough time to prepare.

You will then want to wash your asparagus and cut the bottom 1" off.

I had some frozen chicken that I let thaw out for a couple hours. At this time I cleaned off the chicken and added chicken seasoning to each side.

After the rice has cooked, lay it on the bottom of your glass dish pan.
On top of that, lay out your washed and dried asparagus.
Then lay on top of that, your seasoned chicken breasts.
Last, mix a can of condensed cream of chicken with a 1/2 cup of water. Make sure you mix it till smooth. Then pour on top of chicken.

Sprinkle desired amount of mozzerella cheese on top of chicken.

Place in preheated oven at 350 degrees for 40 mins or until chicken is thoroughly cooked!!

And this is your finished dish!!
BON APPETIT!
